Why won't an item list?
An item stays pending, ready to list, or fails to list. The common causes, from a disconnected marketplace to a missing shipping option or small photos.
Open the item's Events tab first: it shows the exact error from the marketplace. The usual causes are a disconnected marketplace or offline agent, a required field or shipping option the marketplace wants, photos that are too small, or the marketplace refusing the listing under its own rules.
Check the common causes
- The marketplace is disconnected or the agent is offline. Check Settings → Marketplaces and the agent window. Actions waiting on a login show as Blocked in the Actions widget. See Reconnect a marketplace and The agent keeps going offline.
- The form is incomplete. Required fields, the category and item specifics must be filled for that marketplace. Open the marketplace's tab on the item and complete its form.
- Shipping. For Mercari, check the shipping option, because Mercari changes its options frequently. For eBay, choose a shipping package type, and make sure the business policy still exists on eBay.
- The photos are too small. eBay needs at least 500 pixels on the longest side of every photo.
- The marketplace rejected the listing. For example, Mercari may refuse a low-priced item because your earnings would be too low after shipping ("Raise your price"). Whatnot and others may require seller verification on their side. Poshmark may flag items under its counterfeit rules.
- An ended eBay listing cannot be updated. Use List to bring it back, not Update.
- It is still pending. Big batches on Poshmark, Mercari and similar marketplaces run through the agent one by one and can take hours or days. Check the Actions widget: running, next or blocked.
If you have more than one account on a marketplace, check which account the List dialog picked: it starts on the account selected at the top of the page, or your default account, and signed-out accounts cannot be picked. To change an item's account after it is listed, use Move.
Where do I see the exact error?
- The item's Events tab.
- Settings → Events, filtered by marketplace and status.
- Inventory → Execution, which lists failed jobs.
- The Warnings filter on Inventory, which finds every item with a sync warning.
Error messages explained groups the messages by cause and says what to do for each.
